Intermittent lighting problem

Hi I have a problem on an installation in France that is baffling both my electrician and myself uggestions?
I have a light on a stairwell that will work sometimes for several days and then will cut out and will not then work for several days and then my some miracle will start to work again.there is no regular pattern to this. Any suggestions?

Loose connection faulty switch. Try tightening all connections. If that fails Chang accessories

Is it a screw in lamp?? center pin pushed back and just not touching? and as highspark says check all conections

Have you tried changing the lamp for another one?

try a cfl lamp. then you won't be able to tell if it's on or off.
