They are a bit slow, some of us have understood this and been doing it for a while (since March last year..) . We just keep it as one of those special things we can do for our customers :)

BayWa r.e is the new name for Dulas MHH of I remember rightly (wrong sometimes :) )

done loads of 5kWp south facing, 6kWp east west in the last year since the gap between 0-4 and 4-10kWp dropped, mostly on G83 16amp limit.

Dulas are only jumping on that anyway as they can't seem to manage to get hold of any decent 250Wp panels.

Worchester.......you're like an Alpha (Syfy USA series)....you have special powers...Yours is an insight into pv solar....
I think it's more commonly known as a spreadsheet;)

On this topic how do you then put this through the system assuming 16 x 260 giving 4160.

Trying to understand how we can do this to get this to work for us as an additional sales tool.

@Wiggly if you read the link in the first post (reproduced below :) ) it makes sense:

Option 1:
16 x LG250 modules could be installed, providing 4kWp for ÂŁ7,000.
Total benefit (FiT + Electricity Savings) in first year is ÂŁ844.28. Assuming no electricity inflation, this gives a payback of 8.29 years.

Option 2:
16 x LG260 modules, providing a 4.16kWp system, which is just over the FiT band. The system price increases slightly due to the higher cost of the modules, so is ÂŁ7,172.48 in total.
Total benefit in the first year is slightly less because of the lower FiT rate at ÂŁ823.94 a year, but payback is still good at 8.7 years.

i.e. it's not quite as good at 16 x 250, however it still makes good financial sense. The only cost difference is the panels, mounting, inverter, installation, overheads etc are the same. (your gross margin as a % of turnover may be reduced, though margin / job is the same)

it won't work - needs to be above 4.5kWp or so for the finances to stack up IMO vs a straight 4kWp system.

All good advice, and pretty standard practice as others have already said. Just one thing to bear in mind when using a 16A limited/G83 certified inverter is the power (voltage and current) limits per MPPT. Not all inverters in that arena will allow the higher voltage/current levels present on the string configurations necessary to suit a higher quantity of panels, or higher wattage panels. Not likely to be much of an issue but worth bearing in mind all the same....

Worcester I get the pay back scenario, ie over 4kw we drop to 13.5p on fit.

What I wasn't sure was the paper work,
If We install a compliant 16 amp rated inverter that matches the voltages (as per sibert) now when it comes to the mcs sign off and g83 how does that come together ( hopefully this makes sense)

MCS cert would be 4.16 kW whereas G83 notification would just be 3.68 kW 16 amps per phase as long as using an inverter limited to 3.68 kW

duuh,
so fairly simple really so as long as your inverter can take the loads/ voltages of the higher wattage panels then jobs a good un.
