Hi all, I have an interview tomorrow for a local housing group, I am curious to know if anybody has any experience of doing an interview for a local housing company and what sort of questions I should be prepared for, ie testing, earthing etc etc.

On a more serious note... in addition to your technical knowledge & skill levels, they will probably want evidence that you have a very good customer focus - pleasant, polite, tidy worker as well as good communication skills. Good timekeeping, maintaining appointments too and are able to see "the bigger picture" i.e if you are in a property and have any concerns over the tenancy, that you report these back.
They will probably not offer the best rates, but if it's an in-house team for maintenance, then you should be guaranteed steady work with on call and some OT.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Regards.

Are you willing to graft like an animal?
Are you willing to use massive amounts decorators caulk to cover up all your destruction from grafting?
Are you willing to rub your nose in insulation for fun? Oh and cat ****?
Will you work for minimum wage?
Are you able to fake test certs?

had a contract with a HA once. Blimming awful. call-outs in the night cos a light bulb had gone, houses that stank and were often 30 degrees c because the heating was free, pitbull terriers everywhere who were often more socially acceptable than their pitiful owners. Dirty nappies piled up in the corner of the rooms and kids playing with the empty beer cans that dad had for breakfast whilst covered in cat crap. Think I`m exagerating !!!!! some of them are OK but many are not. Its easy enough work from a technical point of view but dont expect too much.

Oh my god, you experienced electricians are in a world of pain. Ive only done part p and am just self employed on the domestic stuff. Looking to get into Solar PV and do this self employed in the future.
I dont fancy the cats doings and socially inept people. I would work towards going self employed. Or build up self employed work and client base and get away from the world of nastyness.
My first time on this site today.
Lot of people seem quite depressed and stuff. Chill out, life isnt that bad when you move over to the dark side of self employed. All the money in your bin. Not someone elses. Get out there and go for it.

If any of the interviewers ask ' If you were a Dinosaur which Dinosaur would you be?' The answer will be didn't you know they are extinct!

However, you're only as good as your experience dictates and remember they want you at a knock down price. So don't attempt to blag it and don't give in to ridiculous demands.....

I knew I was doing something wrong, thanks for the advice.
