So ive managed to get an interview for SSE - electrical apprenticeship which i am over the moon about :smile5:

just wondering if anyone is able to give me a heads up of what sort of questions i might be asked, so i can prepare a wee bit

Also i was wondering.. if given the oppertunity between Balfour Beatty and SSE which company do you think could offer me the most? Ive been doing work experience with balfour for the last couple of weeks and have really enjoyed it.

SSE without a doubt IMO.

If it's for an apprenticeship starting at the ground level then they're not going to be too worried about your knowledge level as long as you're doing well in any courses you're already doing or have already done. I'd do some homework on the company itself which shows them you're taking the initiative and showing an interest and concentrate on the basics like listening to what they say and appearing keen. Try give the impression you really want to work for them specifically and you'd be with them for the long haul rather than appearing desperate and you'll just take whatever until something better comes along because it happens to be there. Companies investing in apprenticeships like to take on people who are stable and likely to give them a return on their investment over years to come so you need them to see someone who's looking for an occupation rather than just a job.

I can't comment on which is the better company.

Which part of SSE is it? Or what is the apprenticeship in?
If I remember correctly they are responsible for both transmission and distribution networks, along with hydroelectric plants in Scotland, along with their general contracting and street lighting divisions

Thanks for the comments guys :) I have quite a good knowledge about SSE have spent 2 weeks at their training centre which has given more of an appreciation for the company, so hopefully that'll help in the interview :)

davesparks its for the contracting side
