Plonker 3

Was speaking to Paul earlier and he mentioned that there was a trainee on here from Nottingham, now I dont actually do much local work but do occasionally.

<<<<<<<<<< You can actually put your location on that part of your profile if you so wish as this could maybe help you get some work experience in the future! Or if you are not happy with it being splattered all over the main forum maybe you could introduce yourself, where your from, what type of work you do etc on here?

:waving: Eh up me duck :)

That'll be me.

From 1 November I'll be going part time at my current job (I teach and do research in electronics and optics) and will be looking for any electrical experience I can get. I'll be finishing my level 3 2365 around the end of the year, and I've booked myself onto a 2394/95 course at the end of November, taking the exams on 2nd/3rd December (hopefully). Controversially, I haven't taken the level 2 course... when I applied they recommended the level 3 course, so that's what I did. Maybe a misjudgement, but it's done now. So I'd be particularly grateful for any experience of tray work, conduit, trunking etc (practical stuff I missed out on my not doing the level 2), or inspection and testing experience, but to be honest I'll take owt at this stage. :)

I'm 39, got transport and (most) tools. Donate to charity what you think I'm worth, and don't use me if the alternative is paying someone proper rates - I don't wanna take work off someone that needs it.

Lancashire-born, Yorkshire-bred, now gone Nottingham-native. Lived on boats for 10 years ('97-'07), now land based. Also used to do sound engineering (monitor engineer) but not for 10 years or so. Here's my son, Happysteve Junior, he's 3:

This was on Sunday, he was working out how a voltage indicator can be used as a continuity tester, and how a rotary switch (cheers Paul!) worked. His face lit up when I turned the switch and it started beeping. :)

He still wants to be a plumber, though :(

A 3 year old playing with wires and rotary switches! Plumber my backside, Electrical Engineer all the way lol.

You and Dillb will get on like a house on fire.

Also if you have a clean criminal record and you fancy something a little different once in a while
For a bit of
Experience then next time I have a job at Rampton then I'll take you with me

Thank you. :) That sounds... "interesting"! It will certainly be an experience, and not all electrical-related, I'd warrant.

Oh it's a electrical experience too!, vandal proof fittings take a bit of skill to fit as does the fact that everything has to be galv tubed and fixed with tamper proof's
