I would like to introduce myself:
I am a timed served electrician albeit time served between 1964 & 1969 at NWEB.
I have not worked as an electrician since about 1970 or so other than for myself or family members.
I went on to do a degree level qualification in electrical & electronic engineering and worked at Manchester university Physics dept. on the linear accelerator and then in the Computer industry for 30 years. However I still value my time as an electrician and look back fondly on those early years. The additional evening and weekend work probably paid for the deposit on my first house. Used to be referred to as foreigners, never sure why.
I'm currently involved in various tasks such as moving my Consumer unit, splitting the ring mains and lighting circuits, providing several new Aerial & Ethernet points around the house and a 4 zone sophisticated security lighting system linked to my alarm and several more Phone extensions. I also offered to provide the sockets, lighting and Aerial & Ethernet points to my son's new conservatory. I rarely seem to be a way from my daughters doing all sorts of DIY.
It's a pity I have to get everything inspected once it's finished by a qualified electrician as the cost of completing the appropriate course would be a bit prohibitive. Sorry for rambling on but I am retired and it's expected. Ken
