I am looking at a3.92Kw ground mounted system and would like to put the inverter next to the array about 70m from the house & incoming supply. Looking to use a 4000TL and wanted to house it in something to offer a little more protection and make the job tidy.

Do you guys think a small wooden shed would be suitable with the inverter mounted on Unistrut so it is not touching the timber? or have u used something else?

We have used IP65 rated boxes from our local electrical wholesaler, although not strictly nescessary, it does finish the job of nicely, Markc does something similar with his ground mount jobs.

Will post a couple of photos when back in the office, got 15 surveys to do in three days. So a bit busy at the mo.

We have been asked to build a cabinet of some sort out of timber, not for UV or weather protection but for someone who doesn't want to see a bright red box on the side of their million pound barn conversion.

I'm not sure we're capable of building anything better looking than a 3000HF.

See SMA's comments on timber buildings (if it is), and make sure the mounting backing is fireproofed Masterboard

They probably have a friendly chippy that they use for other things, that way they'll be happy with the workmanship too. :)

Here's a Power-one in an outdoor cabinet (before it was labelled up :) )

Well put... Ours is mounted on a stone wall presently. The cabinet will be open at the bottom and mostly open at the top for air flow with a slate top and plenty of room around it. If it's not too horrific looking i may post it on here :)
