out of interest , if a DB is fed with armoured cable using the starnds as earth which is fed from a main isolater which is on a TNCS supply, to carry out the IR would i have to dissconnect the neutral out of the main isolter ( not on the DB ) and the earth fly lead off the banjo. when testing N to E. WoULD I ALSO have to dissconect the fly leads from the rcbo ( earth and neutral ) then i could simply test from load side of rcbo to earth terminals.
doing the above this would mean i could also test L TO N on load side of rcbo
and L to E stRAIGHT FROM LOAD SIDE OF rcbo and earth terminals

am i thinking right, i went to job today gaffer says me and him will be testing it so i was trying to think on how he would probly do it for the best way, it was a 16 way 3 phase so be loads to dissconnect

When IR or loop testing all RCBOs with a functional earth wire require this flylead to be disconnected during testing. Some manufacturers additionally require the neutral flylead to be disconnected and/or the RCBO switch dolly(s) in the OFF position during testing. Check the manufactures instructions, as not following their instructions risks possible misleading results and/or damage to the protective device.

It is not that they don't trip, it is that putting a probe in the front of the RCBO to contact the terminal bypasses the sense coil so the RCBO...
