IR test problem

Just finished chasin round a house tryin to find the cause of the 0M ohm reading on a ring circuit IR test. I spent about 45 minutes ruling out the central heating which was fed of the ring. Nope not that. So back to basics, break the ring, find out which half the problem is on. Several sockets later I find one which has an extra cable feed into the back of it. The cable was very neatly chased into the wall until it went behind a kitchen cupboard. The cable was clipped to the wall at the back off the cupboard and then along the wall above the cupboard to a wall clock. A **$@@/? clock.
And it was slow.
mind you 500 volts up its escapement should speed it up a bit!

Never mind at least you could keep an eye on the time while you were testing

why use batteries when you can save money on using electricity!! then spend it all as your sparky takes 3 hours to search for a low IR on a hourly rate...!!
