fully qualified irish (fas) papers, just wondering how i change them over to english standard qualifications or what do i need to do/get??

thanks

jhly, get your self up to date on the UK wiring regs by taking the C&G exam on BS7671, 2008:....
You'll have to look this up your self and probly take any exam in the North, which is what I did. Your FAS papers should be accepted over there, I know many Irish lads who have make the move over and had no trouble, they just had to do the BS7671 exam. I'm the opposite way around, qualifed in the UK, but working here in Ireland, but my UK papers are accepted here. I had to do the update to BS7671 as I also work in the North.
Good luck in your adventures to the UK

Hi,
Been looking into doing the BS7671 (17th edition) exam in the Northern Ireland myself as I too am thinking of heading to the UK like jhly. If I pass that exam, have you any idea what the next step is or is that it? Will I then be all set to earn the proper Electricians rate and not just the Electricians mates rate?

Also, do you know if the City and Guilds 2391-10 Inspection and Testing course would be worthwhile doing?

Thanks

Very worthwhile. That may open a few more doors (it is ascribed to prove competence to test and certify other peoples work as opposed to the 2392 which is for your own/supervised initial installation work only).

No harm in doing the 2391 course as well, the more the better.
I did my exam in Enniskillen, the exam cost ÂŁ35, there was a ÂŁ20 admin fee and the course work it self cost ÂŁ80.
Mail me at [email protected] and send me your address, I'll post the course paper work on to you, as well as about 200 pages of multiple choice questions
Phil
