So, as the title says, "Is it a good idea to answer threads when you have ahd a few"?

Now I dont drink that much, or that often but sometimes on a friday I have a couple of light ales to unwind. The trouble is, I get boared of listening to the wife and watching the "crap factor" or "Britain has no talent" (except man utd). So I get the lap top out and see whos on the forum. Now I look at some threads and think, "Yeah I know the answer to that" and without thinking I start typing, only to realise after wards that Ive missed some important detail. E.g. A while ago an OP asked about a cooker circuit and if it would be ok for him to install a new oven & hob (home owner), he gave the details of the old circuit and the new stuff to be installed and without thinking, I said yes that is ok. I didnt even think about diversity and so the next couple of threads, quite rightly, put me in my place but I felt like a right turnip the next day. So my questions are:

Have you answered a thread whilst inhibrihated?

Should you answer a thread whilst ^^^^^^^?

And yes, if you are wondering, I have had a few, hence the question. lol.

Or some how you have managed to agree to help a mate out that owns a mobile tyre fitting company who has gone to a wedding and needed some mug to cover his breakdowns !
The trouble is that , you probably know more about fitting those funny round things than me though !:biggrinjester:

Fine to answer threads whilst under the influence, just watch out for the repercussions later, just like being down the pub and waking up the next morning going WTF?

Well I've replied to several posts while ineeb... under the influence (including this one) and I think many others have as well. OK we are professionals, but I'd like to think that the general public realise that we come on here in a voluntary capacity and even professionals like a drink of a wekkend, even doctors, rozzers and politicians, so if someone answers a question at this time of night the answer can't and shouldn't necessarily be taken as 'the right' answer, as it shouldn't be taken as anything resembling 'legally binding' at any other time either.

I like that others clarified your answer rather than blindly agreeing with you if you were mistaken.

People tend to ramble after a few ales...

I've been guilty of this in the past and when it's happened I either lose the ability to spell and build legible sentences or miss the point and end up looking like an idiot (as if I needed any help in that department) so of a Friday night I steer clear of the forum:)

It's just like drinking and dialling. As said above you have to be prepared for the consequences. I hate it when you answer something and then you go back and think oh no I forgot something or someone immediately pulls you up on something you missed.
