Went to look at a job today where the lighting circuit kept tripping when the bathroom lights were turned on.

First thing I did was isolate the fan. No tripping when lights are turned on. Pulled the fan off the wall already thinking where the fault may lie. Was greeted with this when I pulled it away from the wall:



The fan grill outside had been pecked away to allow some cheeky birds to set up camp in the wall. They then decided to peck all the insulation of the 3core feeding the fan. Whilst on the phone to my boss telling him the problem, a Parakeet popped his head up in the hole, took one look at me, realised he had been rumbled and then hoped off out the hole.

One of the more amusing jobs I've been to look at!

Had the same, but at work. The most god-awful smell coming out of the control room vent fan. Opened the vent to be greeted by two beady eyes and a f*ck off beak. Quickly put the grill back on. We couldn’t do anything about them, whatever kind of hawks they were they are protected!
I wasn’t going back to find out what sort.

Amazing how far they stripped off the insulation before there was a contact and tripping fault. I'm surprised there was no dead birds in the hole.

WTF??? Is this a wind up? If not, I'd pay big bucks to see what the pompous 'female working parts' at the IEE have to say about this.
