Hi all
recently while testing a factory ive had an issue with one of the DBs.
When i connect my kewtech meter to do Zdb, the phase-neutral logo appears and the meter is beeping, won't give a voltage reading and won't test the loop.
I was told this could be due to an air compressor or welder on one of the circuits creating a backfeed...but i get the same trouble if i try to connect the earth and neutral leads both to the earth terminal, which is missing out the neutral.

anyone had this problem?

not my meter of choice i must admit.
its not polarity, the meter indicates that polarity is correct. It only happens on one out of the 36 DBs in the factory, so im thinking it must be something to do with the wiring...but i can't think what

Single phase or 3 phase? If you don't trust your meter ... validate your results using an alternate means, ie voltage tester, or another sparks meter.

If you get that result with both leads connected to a common point, get the meter tested. (there is a remote chance that a floating earth could cause that in this case, but it would have to be changing very quickly).
