I'm planning on installing the mechanical side of a PV array before I install the electrical components and I've heard that you can connect the positive and negative leads of each module together to short-circuit each module separately until you string them together. Is this true or would it damage the modules?
Thanks!

it's actually part of the test procedure to short circuit the panel!

why would you want to though during assembly? I don't know if there might be an issue over doing this for an extended period of time

Well we are planning on installing the PV laminates first and later, say a month or two down the road, installing the electrical side.
What would be best for the positive and negative leads coming off each laminate, leave them open or connect each positive to negative lead on each together leaving them short-circuited?

Thanks.

just leave them be.

make sure they don't get wet.

Short circuit is no problem for them but I don't think I would be wanting to do it for weeks at a time it would shorten the life of the panel if nothing else.
