I have just received a letter from the NICEIC with a date for my annual DI renewal assessment. But, I’m seriously thinking if it’s worth renewing it or not. Lately I’ve been sub-contracting to large companies on a labour only bases. And touch wood (taps head!), it should continue well into late next year. Because of this, I haven’t been doing a much domestic work at all (the odd rewire, and DB change in the weekend).

So is it worth renewing? I mean, if I decide re-join later next year, then I’m assuming I can just re-apply (no different to a renewal).
My only worry is that if I need to notify any works in the future, I have to go through the rigmarole of the LABC. And how does that look in the eyes of the customer?

I am in a similar position to you and figure the odd rewire or cu change at the weekend over the course of the year still brings in 4 figures so worth having..... Just.
