My ASUS laptop has been sort of broken for a while, instead of replacing it we thought that it might be repairable? Its missing both hinges and that one bottom border on top of the screen, it turns on but the screen stays black and it charges normally. And the screen is connected to the keyboard by a single black wire. I hear good things about ASUS laptops but I can't seem to find the same one I have for sale anymore, which is why we'd rather it be repaired but I don't know how much these repairs would cost..

Would be cheaper buying a new one…. Or even a refurbished model.

They tend to be incredibly difficult to take apart to repair… I’ve had laptops where the hinges have stuck, and the top lid just splits apart around the screen when opening.

If it’s still working, I’d start backing up important data now.

Try it on a monitor or even a tv , unless it’s a high end one a screen and hinge kit may cost more than it’s worth , data can be usually be backed up with an external hdd or Ssd enclosure .

If it is more than a few years old it's often better to buy a new one rather than spending money fixing an old - out dated one. I've just had to repair a 12 year old laptop for a relative, total waste of money. The computer is not designed to run windows 10 that is on it and as a result it is painfully slow to use. I can't believe the number of people who are happy to use computers that are so slow that you spend more time waiting for it to do things than actually using it, many of these people are running their businesses using these awful machines.
