Is that really fairer? Who decides which homeowner gets the panels?

Yes in a way, as if you are NORTH facing, it wouldnt be cost effective to do it..... so a scheme / rating could be devised to rate your home suitable say for Solar PV installation based on what energy potentially you could provide with your roof space and the effectiveness of said system based on your pitch, area and direction as surely the reason why "we are "doing it in the first place,is to produce cheap and carbon free electric for the grid with the benefit of free electric for the household thats used ???

Interesting idea but is this not just unfair to people that haven't got suitable roofs? Effectively you are taking away competition from the market and making those with non-suitable roofs pay for the lucky ones that happen to have a south facing roof.

You could say that know to ppl who havent got suitable roof space..... this way it could be done on say a true SAP basis so that we use the best possible roof space to produce the electric by the most effective way - surely thats what its really all about ??

That way - the climate benefits, the house owner benefits and you the ppl in the Solar PC industry continue in a thriving business that helps to save the climate instead of lining the pockets of those able to afford such technology or should i say did ?

Or do you think its fairer now that the ppl less fortunate than ourselves or ppl with unsuitable roof spaces are paying for our rewards for the next 25 years from the tax they pay on their electric bills and the Solar PV industry falls apart when the goverment pull the plug om the 43p FiTs tarrif - lol

I just think that dirty energy should be taxed - and that includes homeowners. The FITs is a nice way of doing this. As energy prices rise, so does consumer awareness. No one will be fitting 30 GU10s in their kitchen in 10 years time and I'm all for that.

Simple answer to that one, take all non LED light bulb replacements OFF the market completely...... or like digital TV state a date in the future when you have to be converted by.................lol

danesol, I see your point, but that would be like saying the government should buy me a low carbon car because I live in a village and have to drive to the shops, as that would be better for the environment.
They are trying to make things fairer with the Green Deal, shame it is so flawed though.
There is always going to be things that do not seem fair, EG if you use oil for heating and can afford to buy large amounts, you get a better rate per litre than if you are less well off and can only buy small amounts at a time.

There's nothing at all wrong with GU10 LED lamps! I know you meant halogen though ;)

However, those are not the appliances that use huge amounts of electric, as you know its the heating of water with reads electric kettles, immersion heaters, dishwashers, washers and tumble dryers and unfortunately expensive Hi-Fi amps, high end computers and Plasma TVs that consume us nowadays and is certainly my utility bill burden and you tend to use all these at night when you cant generate electric from your PV system !

Is it fair that some cant get gas for heating in certain areas and have to use either ELECTRIC or Calor Gas as the only alternative, I'll leave OIL out for now............... if your house is most suitable for PV and next doors isnt, well thats life and just pot luck.........

Surely though, if you can afford to buy a PV system and next door can not then "that's just life and pot luck" (or maybe you work harder than they do?)

You say that but a house, albeit a bloody big house, that we carry out work in has a total of 212 50W GU10 lamps and the customer who's got more money that sense seems to have lost the ability to switch many of them off. We're forever changing lamps when we're there :(

Unfortunately next door's roof is unsuitable for PV, as all the houses are different in our road - some great, some impossible to get any suitable arrays at all - lol, but I get your point :)

Hence why I said ban the sale of these by say 2013 - lol

That will sort him !

Check the incoming voltage, you may be able to sell them a voltage optimizer, fitted my first one yesterday, saved them 10% already (dont ask she writes her energy usage down daily)
PM me and I will tell you which one I think is the best.
Sorry off topic I know...
