I did a survey of a larger detatched house today. A poor prospect due to shading from 20m high trees and surrounding houses. Also has lack of suitable roof space.

Real shocker was current electricity consumption. 12,000kWh/a!!!!!!! I would have considered 6000 on the high side. They have a tumble drier but this can't account for it. One electric shower that is hardly used. Quite a number of incandesant bulbs and 50w halogens. Still doesn't explain it.

Have told them to contact their supplier for a meter check.

Has anyone else had something this bonkers?

Not that mad at all.

I'll bet they'll have an old chest freezer doig 2-3kWh a day, 50W halogens on all the time, hardly used electric shower actually used a fair amount, and a tumble dryer that will eat electricity etc.

My parents house wasn't that far off that level until I took action a few years ago, went from 25kWh a day to 10kWh a day.

We've got one that's up to 50,000kWh a day, but that is massive and has a swimming pool.
