Electrotechnical NVQ Level 3 Qualification EAL 501/1605/8.

I am looking at taking this course with Options Kills to get my foot in the industry

It seems that it is recognised by the JOB but I am just wondering what value does this qualification hold in the industry?

This qualification is the EAL equivalent of the City & Guilds 2357. However, you need to achieve all three of the elements to gain the full certificate as you will not gain the full certificate without all three elements. The three elements/parts are the knowledge units (classroom based theory and exams), portfolio (work based evidence) and AM2 (two and half day practical assessment).

You MUST be working in the industry to gain the portfolio element of this qualification so do not engage with this course unless you are working in the industry as you will not be able to successfully complete it. Also, ask how long you have to complete the full course as you do not want to have impossible time restrictions etc.

If you are not yet working in the industry it would be much better to see who can offer the City & Guilds 2365 level 2 & 3 (or EAL equivalent) as this qualification is equivalent to the knowledge units of the 2357 and/or EAL equivalent. If you take this approach at least you end up with full certificates and can then achieve the NVQ and AM2 when you are working in the industry.

Hope this helps...
