doing a eicr took cover of board we have a 3 core 70mm swa cable supply to a 3 phase dorman smith db live nuetral earth the live cable is connected to a solid copper link hence making all phases live is this ok something tells me not good practise or am i wrong and what code would you give it if any oh and it had cardboard wrapped around it acting as the shroud

Sorry farm it maybe me, but I can't make out what you mean a 3 core 70mm to a 3 phase DB with a LINE/NEUTRAL/EARTH, well I would think we are a conductor short there if it is a 3 phase supply.

Are you saying you have a SINGLE phase 70mm SWA that is going to a 3 phase DB, and on the LINE conductor is linked together out so it utilizes all 3 banks of protection devices, so rather than BROWN/BLACK/GREY you have BROWN/BROWN/BROWN?

I noticed you never mentioned a main Switch/RCCB/MCB on the DB, which is not needed in the actually board itself and can be separate, so a normal way of connecting such a DB would be through solid copper bar, similar to a bus bar chamber.

Is this what is concerning you?

yes malc it is a single phase supply but the brown cable is lugged to a solid copper link and the terminated into a 3 phase 125 amp switch how do i get the photo from my e mail box onto the forumn

So frame they have linked out the switch on the supply side. In other words cable is going into L1 then L1-L2 linked and L1-L3 linked via this copper bar.

Well it is not really unheard of to do this, I assume because of the size of the SWA 70mm it would be a devil of a job to have 70x70mm in a termination, both physical size, space for bending etc etc, so for ease they have used a solid cooper link.

The only thing I would be concerned with, is the solid copper link man enough for the duty load

The copper link looks fine, not to happy about the steel bolt, although it is probably ok.
Get rid of the cardboard .
