i know you may look a bit of an arse but i say the best torches are the 1s you wear on your head

I agree. They hae the advantage that the light follows you wherever you look.

ive got a headtorch, and a frrestanding one that came with my 18v hitachi. both are brilliant,but the hitatchi gives much better light. and its rechargable!!

If you are looking for a work light the manufacturer to look for is Cree, no-one else is even close. (before anyone mention seoul, cree supply their dies).

My 4000lm head torch runs at 147lm a watt. =-)

The one (head torch) I am currently using takes AA batteries and dies after couple of hours. Thanks, folks for the inputs!

I've got an Energiser led headtorch, runs on 3 x AAA's and is completely brillliant as you hardly feel it on your head, lasts for a good 10+ hrs on a set of batteries, AND has this really useful red-light mode (why?, you might ask is that useful? Because you can make a hole in a ceiling, stick your rods through it with the light attachment on the end, go into the loft using the red light and by looking carefully can normally see the light shining through the insulation, no more pulling piles of hairy insulation around.)

They're quite good lights, my mates a Mechanic & bought 2 for the garage. He thinks they're great, I use a smaller version when working in Power cupboards etc but prefer my LED headtorch. £3.99 in a local Garage & lasts ages on 1 set of batteries.

I normally use my makita 18v torch when changing a board and spend most of the time moving it around cos A. It's in the way and B. Cos I keep knocking it over.
Used a head torch the other day for first time while doing a job and I think I'm now converted.
