Sparky83

Hi all,

I have just had a phone call from a mate of mine who's dad has had a sparky around to quote for a DB change, he was told that he would need the supplementry bonding back to this DB up graded due to the shower being fed in 10mm T&E?? Shower is a 9.5Kw shower.

It is apparently 4mm and goes back to the DB at present, is this something that would need upgrading?? I thought supplementry was something that aint that important anymore in the age of RCD's

Any help??

Cheers

Shawn

as long as the resistance between the pipes complies with bs7671 and an rcd is fitted to all circuits in the bathroom then supplementary bonding can be disconnected.

There is no need to take the supplementary bonding back to the consumer unit
Doing so is not correct, never mind the size of that supplementary bond
The faraday cage desire could be compromised by expanding the equipotential zone outside of the location

Does the zone require supplementary bonding, check out 701.415.2

If there is a need for supplementary bonding check out page 37 of the on site guide for the size required for the supplementary bond, by comparison with the protective conductor size

There maybe a mix up here with correct terms used.

Maybe the spark quoting for the mains change is on about the Bonding, (gas, water) Which he may have said needs upgrading to 10mm.
