RfriendsLEKTRIK

found this under floorboards, i understand how it works but don know if its ok/standard practice or a giant bodge to skimp on 2 jb's! (ive tried google but anything you search for with light wiring always seems to brings up 2 way switching!)

bottom left is circuit out to next lighting jb

bottom right and 2 closest the centre at tthe top go downwards ( so circuit, 2 swithcables

outter top ones go to roses

so any advice??? should i change while i have access

cheers

PS should mention this isnt how i found it, it did have a cover and wasnt resting on CH pipes, but it wasn't fixed to anything

Bit of a bodge job love the way its resting on the water pipes, true class

apart from not being fixed down, and cables not secured, i can't see any regulation that's been breached. poor practice though.

You are correct, but I bet you wouldn't do it like that Tel

Think I will leave the wiring then just secure the box, assuming I secure the cables with clips as theres no cable clamps on these jbs?

it wasnt resting there when i found thank god, but is in a void between joists where the 22mm gas and CH pipes are, if I secure down properly to the side of a joist is it ok in terms of proximity to the pipes?

cheers all
added pic not showing but almost! the jbs are dead centre under the last board here

ps again: did i mention theres a 4t jb right next to it too? the one with blocks is hall and lounge adn the one next to is is dining room, just remembered i may want to add another at some point to feed an outside light so maybe i do need to replace with x4 4t jbs! hoping someone can point me in the direction of another type of junction box that would allow all the connections?

6" x 4" adaptable box with a din rail and din rail connectors from wago or line products.

in that case, 1 of those wiring centre boxes you get for c/h, with a 10 way choc strip.

Ive gotta laugh at the general attitude in this forum, makes me chuckle, i get the feeling you want me to say whats a din rail!

I appreciate the advice tho as not being an electrician i don't know the regs or standard practice and hadn't thought of using din terms as it seemed a bit ott for lighting, but then i i don't see how a CH box would allow the grouped connections so i think ill just do it how you say.

i'll post a before and after pic for you to judge after ive done it, cheers all
