Hi, I'm a DIYer and I'm in the process of installing a soundproof ceiling. There is some plastic mini trunking that will be above the height of the new ceiling, and I've decided the best solution is to leave this in situ and I bought some galvanized steel channelling which I shaped so I could warp it around the plastic mini trunking and it is held in place by cable ties.

Is this solution OK?

If you aren't actually making any changes to the wiring then it should be fine. How far above the ceiling will the trunking be?

Probably around around 5cms when it's finished - haven't made any changes to the wiring no

As long as you're not going to need to get to this trunking at a later date it should be fine as it is without the steel channel around it.

Just out of interest did you find guidance or instructions off the internet for doing this?
How are you going about doing (specifically it in terms of getting the plasterboard up there) and how much is it all costing?

I was considering doing something like this a while ago, but looked into it and it seemed like too much effort.
