this pic is in our book about what to and not to earth on our pv course does it look correct with regards to the bottom sections about needing a stake or not

That diagram has been copied from the similar decision tree in the DTI PV Installation Guide v2

It looks to contain the same information to me.

as i know less about PV installations than i do about open heart surgery, i won't comment.
 
What it is saying is this.

IF you need to bond the array frame at all then:

- if the grid supply to the premises is PME then install an earth spike and bond the array frame to the spike

- if the grid supply to the premises is NOT PME then bond the array frame to the MET

Suggest you download a copy of the DTI Guide and read the relevant section. There is a link to it in the PV Guide sticky post in this section.

thanks mate thats a better way to explain it makes sense so as not to take an earth outside the zone
