Whilst on holiday in July 2011, I stayed in a Greek apartment and expressed concern about the condition of the electrical wiring in the apartment.

Needless to say, I won't name them here, although I have attached some photographs of the condition of the wiring, which as you can see, does not look good. There were bare wires exposed, a socket without a face plate and the fuse box looked quite unsafe.

I would be interested in the opinion of any qualified electricians here, as this information will prove useful to me when writing a report on the apartment.

Many thanks

Where was the tape joint in the first pic?
Can't see enough of the distribution board to make any comment but the broken socket is certainly not acceptable assuming it hadn't been disconnected.

Hi Marvo,

The tape joint appeared to be coming from the wall. Possibly a former light that had been removed, I suspect.

Hi,would it rude to ask,why you are writing a report,4 years after a holiday? :innocent:

I think because at the time, I didn't want to make a fuss. I was only 17, and now that I am more confident I feel it is something I can write about.

Hi bud, cheers for reply. I reckon if it is just for interest, then why not...

If for any more serious reason, you will run in to problems regarding issues such as your age/experience,at the time, regarding assessing a danger.

The country, the photograph only evidence, and the delay, will compound any problems in gaining recourse.

The pics do not tempt me to book 2 weeks in August...but to be honest, I've seen much worse,on holiday in Anglesey :whatchutalkingabout
