Hi all can you tell me if you think this job is worth it

i got a call for a self-employed job thru a agencie installing solar panels this is the offer

3 weeks training involving 3 days in class doing ladder and access etc and the out with a electrician for 2 weeks all paid at ÂŁ75 per day
Then i get a van, tester, laptop, pda and get paid ÂŁ13.50 per hour
when i have prove that i can do at least two house a day (i was told this would take about 4 weeks and if i can't then there would be no work for me ) they will put me on price work at ÂŁ130 per house.

They told me that i have to pay the first ÂŁ10 of fuel everyday and any fuel cost over this i could claim back.
And they pay me thru a payment company that charge ÂŁ20 per week for this.

can you tell me if anyone has heard of this or your thoughts on this do's this sound ok

To be honest, it's all down to what it's worth to you. It doesn't sound like a massive p-take, just fair expectations, so it all depends on how much you think you need the work.

I'm not MCS (but am thinking about it)
How much are the courses worth?

If the course is worth ÂŁ2000, then in my opinion it maybe worth it as it's another string to your bow.
Are the courses C+G's or an inhouse thing that isn't worth the paper it's written on?

Hmmm..... ÂŁ70 a week (all tax deductable) to earn ÂŁ1300 - so to ask the question rearranged another way: "I have an offer to earn ÂŁ1230 a week after some in house training, do you think I'm likely to find a better deal at the moment?"

it sounds a good deal, tho im surprised a company can give you a van lappy pda and training then use a different company to pay you..sounds wrong to me,id also ask what you get paid back regards the miles, most vans cost more ppm than you get back, you might get say 12ppm but the van is running at 20ppm so if its a large area you cover you will be way out of pocket on fuel, tho on the whole a grand a week is not to be sniffed at even in the good times, and the hours id imagine arnt daft, worth a go imo..

re the van,im not sure how being supplied with transport and being self employed works but if that van is available for private use it may have other tax implications..

That thought had crossed my mind, too.

Hi guys,
Correct me if I'm wrong.
But to install an MCS photovoltaic system you must have the C+G2372

Now with the FIT changing in about 3 weeks and the amount of installations once the exist jobs are completed are likely to drop. Most people don't have ÂŁ12k hanging around, and if they did I should imagine that it would be less hassle for the customer to arrange the installation in 6 months when the weather is better.

Maybe I'm a sceptic, but if a deal is to good to be true, it tends to be to good to be true.

I have heard that the fitters get about ÂŁ200 per install, and also about problems with deliveries.
