Looking to fit an isolator switch before consumer unit, anyone have any recommendations and/or links? Cheers

They aren't and i'll try and upload a picture tomorrow as Chrome isn't playing ball tonight.

Thanks for the feed though. Be good to know if they try and charge the customer (or my company) for removing the equipment!

Of course they will charge for attending site to remove it. That is if they will even agree to removing it when there is a general move towards fitting isolators to all supplies these days

At one time, if you made any alterations to your installation, or wanted a new supply, then before you could get it connected to the DNO supply, an installation inspector (I was that soldier) would arrive and do some testing (IR & EFLI) then make the connection for you. The seal on the meter meant we had to do it that way. Since the early 90s, we've been fitting isolators, which allow the customer to make their own alterations. Legally, the only way you could do that was through the bottom end of the isolator. Now, Skimpy stated they've been advis3ed they can't touch the isolator. If that means moving it, he's right, but he's perfectly entitled to isolate and open the bottom, unsealed end to connect/disconnect tails. What I'm struggling with is why you'd want to deprive yourself of that option. Also, like davesparks I'm dubious as to whether the DNO will be willing to remove the isolator.

This is what we've been left with ...

Well that's a mess and a half isn't it! I thought DNOs were supposed to come in on the left side of the box, I'm pretty sure UKPN would have refused to install the supply of the duct was put in to the wrong side for them. And what's with the little pigtail in the CNE cable?

That's going to need everything juggling around a bit to get that SWA terminated acceptably.
I know what I'd do if it was me, but I'm not happy to suggest that anyone else do such things without knowing their ability.

Glad you thought the same about the incomer loop & locations of equipment from DNO.

I'm struggling to see how we'll get the SWA into a metal enclosure switch box where things have been placed now.

Be interesting to know if their location of equipment is compliant with their rules / regs?

Move the isolator up as far as you can, then you should get a KMF in the space you create.
Get a bit of thick brass angle and fit a gland to it, terminate the SWA onto that and screw the brass angle to the backboard of the box at an angle roughly over the marker pen writing. Heat shrink the cores of the SWA with a double layer and terminate into the KMF. Then a brass bolt through the brass angle to earth the armour.

Maybe consider filling the gland with epoxy after the cores have been heat shrinked

I'm not impressed with the jointing myself. I struggle to see what the pigtail's for. I agree the jointer should probably have refused to fit the cutout because of the position of the incoming service cable. However, I'd say the cablehead and meter are in the right place. They should be on the left because of the nature of the meter terminations.
