Guys

Got a small electrical job in a bus garage tomorrow.
Mate of mine has installed a UPS and needs it connected to a FCU.
All that is required is to cut the plug off the UPS and connect it into the FCU supplied.
The client has insisted a sparkie do this and wants it certificated. I told him that anybody competant can do this but they are just trying to keep the client happy.

I know this doesn't come under BS7671 but could I issue them a Minor works certificate or a PIR.

Thanks

Paul.

if the FCU is already wired into the mains, you are fitting an appliance, not modifying a circuit, so no certification is required, unless a PAT test on the UPS is relevant. if you have to connect the FCU into a circuit, an MWC is required

as the guys have said no cert required , having said that how do you know that the circuit you are connecting it to is safe , so id run a quick test on it to ensure its ok ,and be honest how long does it take to do a minor works cert 5 mins the customers happy and your 100% covered
