Ok guys. I just received a text from a friend and I'm just going to copy and paste it....

"The other day the computer kept going off and then the light and computer were goig off together and then on again and now it's done it again"

"It's the light above the workbench so there not that close either, I didnt notice anything else going the other lights stayed on and the laptop."

"Today only once atm the other day the computer was doing it every few mins as soon I had logged on again it went and then when the light joined in it was every 5-10mins but it lasted about an hour"

Any ideas?

If the light above the workbench is a CFL then maybe low voltage? There isn't much to go on so suggestions are likely to be pretty vague.

That's what I thought. the weirdest thing is I'm guessing that's it's going to be on different circuits so why isn't it all going off? Very strange indeed!

What's the surge do that's associated With pc's? I havent got the slightest clue about that? Could it have something to do with that??

I believe it shunts excess voltage on the supply side down to earth.

I did think that. But thinking of the place it's happening in, I can't imagine it being wired that way. I'll have a look when I pop round there

i'll go with light spurred off socket circuit or even plugged into it, and a loose connection.
