As above really!

Can i get a gold card with just the above, i.e NO 2330 lv2 ( well got EAL Level 2 Diploma which the college said was the "equivalent" to the 2330 lv2, but spoke to city and guilds and they wont accept it into the 2357, so it cant be that much of an equivalent).

So l3 & nvq 3 = jib card or not?

I have emailed the jib and will ring them tommorow, but just itching to know, otherwise im stuffed!

Cheers

you may need to get 17th edition just sit exam £45 it costs and u can do it at night to ring up college, ring up j,i,b to get the pack and book h&s test to for esc card to get gold card

How long have you been working as electrician, as above comment and skill recommends from whomever you worked for and you may get Industry assessed on the card. id say you need more but they may call you Trainee instead

ECS Installation Electrician

As a general guide, since 1999 the mandatory requirement for the Installation Electrician ECS gold card has been the NVQ level 3.
To be eligible for an ECS Installation Electrician gold card, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A recognised competency based qualification as certificated between the dates below

Qualifications for new trainees - starting 1[SUP]st[/SUP] September 2011
Anyone new to the electrical industry will have to complete the technical theory, practical and competency assessments of the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical systems and equipment (buildings, structures and the environment).

Qualifications completed and certificated from 1[SUP]st[/SUP] September 1999
Since 1999 the mandatory requirement has been the NVQ level 3.
If formal training was carried out from 1st September 1996 it is likely that the theory elements of the NVQ training programme have been studied as a separate technical certificate (City & Guilds 2351 OR 2330 Levels two and three OR 2360 Levels two and three). A technical certificate on its own does not meet the full requirements of the NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Installation - Buildings & Structures).

To me it looks like I HAVE to hold 2330 l2 & l3.

And my l3 certificate is dated 5/12, so does that mean I now have to do the LV3 NVQ diploma?

What a shambles.

If I remember rightly you can get a JIB card, when you sit the ECS H&S exam, but it's not gold.
When you do your NVQ and AM2 then it gets upgraded. I think you can start with an improvers card at 2330 level 2, but might need to be in a apprenticeship.
I can confirm though that the EAL qual isn't recognised, only when you have done your NVQ and AM2, will it stand as recognised.

if you have done nvq 3 in the last 5 years you wont have to do the health and safety test, regarding getting a gold card you really need to speak to them but be warned they are as helpful as a t?rd in a swimming pool.
