Any thoughts on whether or not it's worth obtaining. I'm signed up for the NVQ3 so obviously I can go down that road, I have looked on the site, just be nice to know who is, who isn't and why?

Where I work at the moment, everyone has. It depends what type of spark you wanna be I suppose, if you wanna wire houses, then its not really crucial to have one. If you wanna work on big sites and power stations etc, then id get one, because your 90% of the time asked for one. Plus then you work to the JIB rates which are a descent wage, even for mates.
The JIB card shows that a recognised board has approved you of being a competant and qualified spark. Not that people who dont have them arnt competant.

But these are my views completley, others will agree and disagree.

As floody says, it's not a bad thing to have. If you don't have it there will come a time when you're asked to prove your quals and it's a lot easier to carry a bit of plastic about than it is to have a file full of paper. That said, the JIB have never had any teeth and probably never will. we have any amount of regulatory bodies and if we're brutally honest it's only us that know anything about them or care about what they can offer which isn't a great deal
