hi folks, i need your help i have a new proline ceramic hob from comet when unpacked it turned out to be 3 phase. my supply is only single phase so how do i connect is it a simple as connecting the three live together etc or is there more to it.

They usually come with a link which joins the lives together for single phase use.
I can't see Comet selling something which can only be used with a 3 phase supply.

hi thanks for your reply( its true its 3 phase) no link just a load of wires l1 l2 l3 etc plus the neg and earth , have spoken to comet twice who don't know nothing about nothing they sell things and that it, so any help in connection would be appreciated

there is usually a wiring diagram stuck on or a label around the cord n ormally a link inbetween or lines joined together as you said earlier but you really would need to check to be sure.

I have an induction topped range. It can be connected 3 phase or single phase. Yours should be similar. You could try looking up the instructions online, or give the manufacturer a ring tomorrow.

check if L1,L2,L3 are linked. if they are, then the live goes to any 1 of them. if in doubt, get a sparsk in to connect it. he/she will also be able to check that your fixed wiring is suitable .

onnect line to L1,then there should be an connector strip to connect L2 & L3 together if that helps

it will definitely work on single phase/there are 3 ways these can be connected.
1/ 3 ph+n+e use l1 l2/l3+n+e for 3 phase
2/ single ph+n+e use l1 for single phase
u might find if you connect using l1+n+e and no links only one half of the hob will work...using a link from l1-l2-l3 will make all of it work.

sometimes these hobs come with a 4 core flex already connected so you only have to do the final connection and 2 of the cores will be crimped together for ph then your neutral core and earth core
