Awesome, I think. Perhaps not for the staff for for bargain hunters it is.

ps. didn't sports direct buy them a while ago as they were struggling back then?

Sports Direct didn't buy them, Mike Ashley decided to wait and sit on his cash mountain. Watch him swoop down and take over the profitable sites now though.
it's a shame they've gone because it's another 2200 jobs that are history and another hole on the high street.

I don;t think he did mate. I know there were discussions about him taking some ut I think they came to nowt. Agree with you about HMV, that'll also be a shame because 3 of my mates will be out of jobs

And these cash loan stores that seem to keep popping up everywhere as well

There is no overheads with the internet thats why its so much cheaper

Just been in and bought some footy boots... It's mayhem now... Lots of staff in "sports direct" tops and they are using sports direct bags... So sports direct are involved in some form.

Sports Direct are in charge. They've closed all but four JJB stores in Scotland which are to be rebranded Sports Direct in the coming weeks/months.

Death of the high street mate, its supermarkets & the internet thats killing them off
I reckon HMV would have died off on it's own. When I was a kid it was a record shop, and quite a good one at that. Now it seems to have an identity crisis - they sell a poor selection of music, a poor selection of posters, a poor selection of T-shirts, a poor selection of DVDs, a poor selection of electronics... Can you see a theme developing here? They don't excel at anything any more.

I can see Boots going the same way before long - they used to be a chemists, but now they seem like some kind of women's shop selling hair straighteners and sandwiches.

our high street dead charity shops, pound shops ,monney lending shops, alot more estate agents last few weeks jjb gone, mothercare, marks and spencers going.
we have too many empty shops now and even when they give them away free to artists ,musicians and charities there is not enough to make it look nothing but a barren wasteland.
the counsils answer is spending millions on restructuring and modernising although no one cares they want lower rates.
