Telling tales out of school.

The teacher was giving the class a scripture lesson about Joshua, and at the end of the lesson she said to young Sam “Who knocked down the walls of Jericho?” “Don’t know!” said Sam, and was promptly given a detention for not paying attention.

The sequel to the tale is even more surprising, given the present day attitude of parents whose children are ‘at odds’ with teachers.
Next morning the teacher received a letter from Sam’s father. “If Sam says he didn’t do it, then he didn’t do it. But I don’t want any unpleasantness, so just get the wall fixed and send me the bill and we’ll say no more about it.”
