Hi mate you can do the nvq 2356 with VQ training or delta training they are both on-line only as for the AM2 not sure mate someone else may be able to help

IF you have 2330 lv3 it will be about £510 +vat with VQ training

with Delta training ltd
Registration for the Electrotechnical NVQ 3 ceases on 31st March 2011.

After that date the technical certificate and the NVQ will combine.

The following options will then be available to potential candidates.

Ø If you hold a C & G 2330 Level 3, it will be necessary to undertake a bridging course, which deals with renewables, prior to commencing the NVQ.
This will entail further work and expense.
Ø Holders of technical certificates which were in existence prior to the roll out of the 2330 e.g. 2360/2351, at this point in time, will need to start again. This means literally starting again from scratch by enrolling on the C & G 2357.
Obviously this will entail a considerable amount of time, effort and expense.
Ø Operatives, who have been working as electricians, but with no technical certificate ---(16th/17th Edition Regulations or Inspection & Testing qualifications do not count) will not be able to undertake the NVQ without first completing the Knowledge based qualification.

The validity of the current NVQ under present JIB guidelines, will not be compromised.

Therefore, candidates who still require the JIB “Gold Card” are urged to register for the award prior to 31st March.
The completion date for the award is 2014, so candidates will have ample time to complete the Log Books required for the portfolio.

CURRENT FEES FOR THE NVQ

Standard Scheme for Qualified people £595 plus VAT - £714
Knowledge Assessment Scheme for non-qualified £815 plus VAT - £978

hope thats some help mate

If your doing the JTL logbook, you wont get away with copying a completed one. You have 3 job write ups, and your JTL rep visits you on site. Surley JTL should be sorting all this out for you?

yeh i did have a training officer but he is new to his job so is clueless and incompetent. Basically i had no option but to go away for 4 months of my apprenticeship and he effectively got jtl to take me off their books even though i was keeping the same employer and he reckons when i finish my candidate portfolio they are going to put me back on the books to mark my portfolio and do am2, i personally think hes full of s**t and these new rules as of 31st of march are seriously concerning me. What i need to know is what i am to do and whether these new rulings are going to affect me as i dont want to have chucked 3 years of my training down the drain when i am so close to finishing.

please assist me

You need to find out if you still on the JTL frame work. Ring them. Or ring your college. JTL give you a job folder with questions you have to answer and provide evidence etc. Without that folder you cant complete a portfolio. If you have been removed you will need to sign up before the 31st of march to the 2356 NVQ3 as it's changing.

i have been issued the folder, but that doesnt mean anything if im not on the framework anymore? basically i need to ring the officer tomorrow and if im not on the jtl books anymore i can do it through delta or equivalent and carry on down that route? but can i take the am2 afterwards to get to the same destination (being qualified)?

cheers for your help

Ah, so you have the folder? Ring your officer and find out, as by the sounds of it your still on it, he's just given you it and told you to get on with it. It's his job to help you with it, make regular visits and check it every so often to make sure your getting all the detail required so when it's marked you don't keep getting it back. I dont know much about the other NVQ route's, as i completed a JTL logbook. If worst comes to worst, you can a different NVQ route. But there expensive, and the AM2 costs on top, think it's £700 just for the am2!

But I will need to sign up before the 31st if I'm no longer jtl? id rather pay £700 than go college again for 3 years! He hasn't been on any site visits in a year so I think I will need to go elsewhere and pay the cash.....

Yeah think it's before the 31st. How long have you had your folder? He won't come out without you arranging it with him, but he should call you every so often to see how your getting on! Or mine did anyway! One if my mates did his NVQ through quickstep, took him 5 months! Look them up. It's alot quicker than a logbook!

All these concerns about your training officer, every region has a regional manager that they have to report to. Why dont you go over his head and raise these issues with him, if you say hes new to his job. Surely your going to get a answer from someone higher!!

your college assessor will will tell you if you need to work on a particular question or questions. Nothing wrong with asking for advice if your unsure about them.
