[ElectriciansForums.net] Junction Box Connection for AC Cables
Hi everyone,

I'm working on a project where I need to connect two copper AC cables. Instead of running a very long cable, I'm using two shorter cables that I already have on hand. I'm planning to connect them inside a junction box using a terminal block ) for continuity.

  • The cables are copper, PVC insulated.
  • The connection is for AC power.

Does this method meet safety and reliability standards, or should I consider a different approach?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Screw terminal blocks are acceptable, if the box remains accessible.

In the UK, we have regulations concerning the proper fixing of cables where they enter joint boxes, and the use of “maintence free” connectors when the box becomes inaccessible
