junction boxes

Hello electricians

I'm doing an eicr and Ive come across a cu that has been lowered by a metre and the cables have been jointed through using junction boxes on surface, although its horrible on the eye and personally I Wudnt use this method of jointing. Would this warrant a code 3 or leave as acceptable aslong as the junction boxes are terminated correctly with sheath inside jb and adequately rated with comment on cert what's your views.

Probably looks like a pigs ear, but unless you can put a regulation against it then no code. as you say make sure they are fixed and connected ok.

doesn't warrant a code. not even a comment. words like bodge and abortion have no place on an EICR.

Are they accessible?
Are they securely fixed?
Are the terminations done properly?
Are they free from stress?
Are the CPCs sleeved?
Are any switched lives correctly sleeved?
Etc.
Does it need to be coded?
Although I agree it'll look horrible and I wouldn't have picked that method but.....

Make sure the gaps/holes (were the cable usually go's) are not at the top of the JB as there mounted!! This would affect the IP rating.

of course you can. a horizontal line, by definition is a line parallel to the surface of still water. this still water follows the curve of the earth, so a horizontal line is not a straight line. this makes spirit levels and lasers inaccurate, and we should fix everything by eye.
