hi guys,

ive been electritian for about 7 years now and im wondering if any of you guys know a better way of what ive always been taught, im sure there is something im missing!!!

When wiring Spotlights in a bathroom with a extractor fans.

i wire the feed into the first spotlight positon which will contain:

feed in - 2core and E
feed out- 2 core and E
S/L - 2core and E
spotlight out going - 2core and E
Fan Permanent and switched feed - 3core and E

so basically 5 cables which i then pull out of the spotlight hole doing the nessasary connections is there in a JB and then lose it up into the cieling...... just feels too much all the time.

there must be a better way that im totally over looking... help would be highly appreciated im sure one of you guys have a speical tip!! ha

cheers boys and girls

Feed the switch. Wire all lights in three core. This will carry a permanent live, switch live and neutral around the lights until the last one. From here take a three core to the fan isolator and then the fan.

You can use wiring centres, junction box lost and hidden somewhere etc but I also vote for feed to switch. I never use <25mm back boxes and use a push in connector for the neutrals and cpc's into the box's earth terminal

or do it as in your OP but use lever wagos in a line products "egg". you will need a couple of 5 port wagos..

Clever idea! Bit of a pain when you have downlights with only 3 way terminals attached with a grip.

Feed the switch it is then!

what make push in do you use for the neutrals can be bulky no?

Feed the fan isolator switch, take a loop out to the down lights, 3core and earth to fan and drop switch wire to switch or pull cord. It's a lot easier to make off in the back of the box of fan isolator than a jb at 1st down light.

Pre-wire the lights with a cable and take this and the three cores into a jb? Makes it easy to change the fittings in the future too.

The hager solystia range has a neutral loop connection in the rear of the switch. A clever idea to save space.
