Just did a favour for a friend of mine over here and run in a couple of these IP 66 weatherproof double socket outlets (those that can seal the plug top in use, maintaining the IP rating).

Now when i went to purchase these W/P outlets, i had a bit of a shock, ...good and bad!! ..lol!! The supplier only did 3 makes, ABB, Contactum (think that's how it's spelt), and an unknown brand to me SWS. The ABB job are just silly money here, so only asked the prices of the other two.

Before i tell you the prices, comes my query, is Contactum looked on in the UK as a budget, middle of the road, or prestige brand?? Also what sort of prices do these sort of W/P socket outlets run out at in the UK??

Well, .... Here the likes of MK and ABB and the like, are over 60 Euros, ...the Contactum is 40+ Euros, and the SWS is 10.60 euros.!!!!!! When i first come accross Contactum accessories, years ago now, they were considered a budget range, how times change ...lol!!!

Now the thing is i checked this cheapo unit out, and it's looks better engineered than the contactum, comes with a 2 year guarantee, plastic is fireproof and UV proof, i was actually very impressed. The only downside on my side was that all the threaded entries were 25mm and i was using 20mm, but i got over that one, ...lol!! Even comes complete with rubber thread seals for glands and plastic conduit entries!! Got to be a bargain at that price ...What??
