Basically a bloke i am currently working with to gain some on site experience doing electrical work says itd be good if i were to get a JIB card.

However after looking online im really unsure if i can even get one yet.

Heres my current circumstances in case anyone can advise.

I am 32
I have the green CSCS card
I am currently studying towards the 2330 level 2
I have passed the 201 with a Distinction
And I have a lot of experience working with tools, - ive always been in a trade, but not electrical.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks :)

a friend of mine who had the similar sort of quals got one. you will need to do the ecs test and if you do get the similar grade he got an adult trainees card. you will need to do the nvq alongside the 2330 l2 and 3 but with the change over of the qual to the 2357 you will transfer unit credits over.

ok thanks, Just to clarify as i stand now, the only way to get one would be to pass the ECS test, then get a adult trainee card?

Or am i unable to get one at all until i have started / completed the NVQ level 3?

I plan to apply asap you see.

Thanks again for your speedy reply :)

no probs, you will have to do the ecs test and then on completion you will get the card. it should be an adult trainees card but you never quite know with the jib :) you will get the card before completion of the tech certs and the nvq. on completion of the l3 and nvq with relevant site experience it will be assessed and if you have the site experience needed it should be graded electrician.

Thanks again for your help mate, its appreciated. :)

Any ideas on cost for the ECS test? - ill get it booked

sorry mate been painting :D i think it`s around 35 quid for the test and then whatever the card costs on top i think. if you had have had the l3 it would have exempted you from the test.
