Just checking my understanding of spurs off rings

Have 18th ed and page 505 does say an unfused spur should feed one twin socket outlet. However if a 13amp fused spur is then connected to this and then to another socket is this not permissible? I can't see any potential for cable overloading? Thanks

Depends where the 13A FCU was positioned along the spur ? If after the double outlet then possible load could be 39A. Or am I misunderstanding ?

I think you might of understood me correct Andy and my calculations are not right. At moment it goes ring main, then goes to spurred off socket. Then thinking I might of been able to from here to 13amp spur then to double socket. Would this then possibly give a 39Amp load from socket on the ring?

Yes. 2 x 13A at double socket and 13A from the spur. I'm assuming the cable size is 2.5mm with a ref method C rating of 27A ?

This is not permitted, the fused spur must be before the first twin socket to make this compliant.

Just change the spurred off socket to a 1G+2G dual box and fit a FCU before the socket... continue off from there as a 13A radial

It would of been if installed yes. The potential for overloaded cables are then the ones on the ring then which could be drawing 39amps? Just for my own clarity the fact that it is a ring and wired in 2.5mm parrellel does this have any bearing on what max amperage the ring is capable of drawing. Cheers
