Hey guys,

I just bought my first van and was interest in storage ideas so that my gear is not rattling around. I don't think I am gonna go for selves/racking in a Belingo but I was thinking maybe the large storage containers or open top stacking crates.
Any inovations would be of interest please. :icon14:

You have to have a real engineering background to fill a van.

  • First off, all the bits you need everyday you throw in first.
  • Second that box of bits that may come in handy one day.
  • All the bits of cable that may come in handy one day.
  • Conduit benders, sets Etc.
  • Last that bloody great tool chest you’ve been meaning to sort out since the year dot.

Perfect you can’t find anything you need! But it’s all in there, somewhere!

One reason I liked a flat back tranny, OK my tools weren’t in it over night, but I could find what I’d thrown in it when I wanted it.

Last time I moved my big tool chest it took a forklift truck!

and carpet the floor so things don't slide everywhere.

Haha, I already have my area of carpet, its a written rule I thought as I remember from all those years ago way back when I was a snot nose punk and still training; all the sparks I went out with had a carpet lined van.

The first thing I said to the wife when I was buying the van was 'that bit of old carpet in the loft will come in handy now'

I've got a Berlingo and it's racked out, works a treat - except it's too small these days for all thosse things I keep in there "just in case". Then I can't find 'em and have to buy another from the wholesaler because it's quicker than stripping the van to find it.

But seriously - top rack for cable reels, middle rack for boxes of sockets, switches etc, under the rack for boxes of stuff I won't need often. Main floor area for tools, drill boxes, etc. Mostly it works a treat, but my next van will be bigger

That's some impressive racking. Did you design it yourself or buy it pre-made?

Do you find at all the blue units which hook on fall off or items of gear fall out on bend/bumps etc?
I really like the units on the other side, did you buy them or make something up

All stay on pretty well, have the odd thing fly out of them now and again, I just have to make sure it's all loaded the right way.

Units on other side are all custom made by 'my local van racking place'.... took all my tools along and went through exactly what and where I wanted everthing and had it all fitted/ made to measure (and didnt cost ÂŁ1000's either)
