Just got into college

Hi
This is my first post and I'm very happy I just got into a 3 year college course to be a electrician, I want to start off doing domestic and move onto industrial.

I want to buy my own tools for college and was wondering if someone could help me with what I would need.

Things I own:-

Ck tools automatic wire stripper (amazing)
Ck tools sabertooth saw (won that)
Draper 7 price vdk screwdriver set
Makita combined drill
Makita impact driver

I aim to buy a new tool every fortnight, I only have £20 every fortnight now due to other costs but I want to keep most of it ck tools or draper.

I have a CEF, Tool-Station, screwfix and a independent electrical tool shop local who I can buy from,

please post what I need to buy down below thanks.

Things you will want

Side Cutters
Pliers
Long nose pliers
Utility Knife or electricians knife
Ratchet crimping tool
Hacksaw
Junior hacksaw
Claw hammer
Lump hammer
Bolster set
Cold chisel set
Wood chisel set
Drill bit set (Wood, Masonry and Hss)
Small adjustable spanner
Hex key set

If you want to do industrial

Spanner set
Socket and ratchet set
Angle grinder

This is everything I can think of off the top of my head. For hand tools I recommend Knipex or Bahco.

You have a CEF toleration ? That's more than most.

oops lol i was suppose to write toolstation but correction must of put that aha
whils im at it can anybody give me a run down on different vde screwdriver sets
like i see some ck tools ones for £20 and some for £50
whats the difference and if possible could someone link me to a good set

for VDE drivers, buy irazola, (rebranded as bahco). £25 a set. and for snips, buy CK or similar with the 2 strip notches for 1.5mm and 2.5mm.

i have just gone out and bought a set of draper expert VDE screwdriver set
when i went down to my local shop i was offered a set of a set of bahco , but turned them down because they just did not seem comfy unlike the draper expert.

I think the best thing is to buy Tools when they are at a GOOD PRICE at a TIME when you have the MONEY for it.

Keep the Money till you see a GOOD DEAL and then buy, you can wait for the item but they cant wait to keep hold of a item and have to reduce it at some point

Seriously I would think twice about taking your own tools to college as
1- Some one may try to appropriate them
2- Some one borrows them and mistreats them

thats true that is, i got a copy of finale for £15 a couple years ago^^

its similar to Sibelius but not as expensive

I want my own tools because it will keep me focused because if I invested money in tools it will keep me motivated if that makes sense and iv burned my name in all my tools for saftey plus I won't lend them out
Also lastly I have checked out the books and I can buy 3 books needed 2nd hand for only £50

You won't need a drill at college, maybe just take sidecutters and a terminal driver..also take a pad of paper, coloured pens and a copy of the on-site guide would be useful

What are peoples opinions on forge steel tools? Compared to knipex and ck tools they are so much cheaper
Are they worth buying just for college and upgrade later on?
