BOROROBBO

Hi all,

A bit of background about myself before we start is that i have always worked for companies and have never been self employed or had to sign work off myself (apart from niceic certs) so now im out of work and a few things have came into the pipeline.

I have someone wanting me to do a few kitchen upgrade/rewires and asked if i am able to sign them off. Is it right i can just use some printed off test certs and fill them in?

Am i missing something or is that about right?

I'm a time served 17th ed electrician.

Thanks for any info

only the dreaded part p will stand in your way. you have 3 options:

1. join a scam, nic, elecsa, napit at around ÂŁ400+ per year.

2. notify LABC beforehand and pay them around ÂŁ200-ÂŁ300 fee per job.

3.ignore part p and just do the jobs.

All kitchen work to be notified thru a competent persons scheme or to area local council to comply with part P. Customer will then have notification when they sell their house when asked for certificates by the house buyers solicitor.

so my options are basically 1 or 2....

do i have to actually be self employed/ have my own company to join the NIC?

thanks

right, it makes sense i guess. thanks mate

You can use one of your kitchen jobs to prove your competence to one of the schemes, some require 2, google all the ones that tel said and all the info is there for you to take your pick from including prices.

NO, anyone with just the 17th ed can be deemed competent by these scams, which just makes a complete mockery of the whole Part Pee scam system!!

Oh, and NIC is probably the most expense of the lot, go for the cheapest if your only doing a few foreigners a year
