Kewtec KT71

Thinking of buying a Kewtec KT71 pat tester or its new brother KT72 battery operated pat tester, lots on ebay and seems to be popular so must be ok, has anyone got any experience with it, good or bad?

Not very well up on Kewtec but can vouch strongly for Seaward.

We have a The New PrimeTest 350 PAT Tester from Seaward

and a Seaward Supernova Plus PAT Tester

and both work very well. We use the 350 for most aplications and the Supernova for large scale portable tool testing. We also use the Seaward Patguard elite software which of all the ones i've used is by far the best.

I,ve used Robin, Seaward and fluke and im my PERSONAL opinion Seaward wins the day.
There easy to use with a great GUI and the communication with the software is seamless. Plus the technical support when needed is excellent, a crackin chap called Austin Daily located in the north east offices.

sounds like i work for them, but i dont LOL. its just after having 2 Robin machines all but explode while on site inside of 1 week i am greatfull for something that works so effortlessly.

The Supernova IS a fantastic piece of kit BUT the price does reflect that.

Very true Lenny. In this age of cheap and often foreign equipment sometimes paying that bit extra for something that will work!

just ordered the KT71 have read alot about its seems its ok if your not doing alot of pat testing i need it more for casual if and when

have a look at metrel, ive tried fluke and megger. but my metrel is the the dogs.

Kewtec is just re badged Robin stuff,and that was good stuff in its time.Still got my KTS 1620,still going strong.

Sorry Stevie no I havn't.
I have looked into an insulation tester etc that records results and prints certs directly. The results wernt favourable in my opinion. Myself and collegues prefer to use a tester that records results then use a certification software to process the results.
A friend of mine who specialises in Insp & Test only has tried out several direct to cert instruments and thinks that the main problem is that it is easy to miss information when testing and only realise once you print out the cert. He prefers using software that validates the cert before printing.

From my point of view it depends on the amount of testing you do.
What I can say is that if you contact seaward they will direct you to a local demo of their products and in some cases have been known to loan out demo instruments!!
Although I suspect other manufacturers do this too.
