Hi guys I'm new to the site, got a few questions that I could do with some advice.
just for a hit of background I've just finished my level 3 2365 and I have my 17th I'm a data engineer by trade but want to start doing my own electrical work(I have worked alongside electricians for a few years)
can I do electrical work in commercial buildings and schools and sign off my own work? Also is this tester any good http://www.screwfix.com/p/kewtech-kt63-multifunction-tester/96369?_requestid=179065
hopefully the link will work
thanks guys

Eh up. :) I've got one a KT63, I rate it. It's small, not too heavy, rugged, and does the important stuff, and does it simply. Doesn't suffer from RCD uplift, so rarely need to use the alternative method of measuring Zs on an RCD-protected circuit. I'd thoroughly recommend test-meter, who sponsor the forum, to buy stuff like this from. If you click via their link it'll give you a code that gives you a discount. And they're good. :)

As for signing off commercial work - competence is the most important thing you need. Nothing to stop you using the IET model forms. You've got the 17th, so you'll be aware of the requirements of those who can do initial verification with respect to verifying the BS7671 standards have been met (134.2.1 and Definitions). You will no doubt be aware that some commercial installations may be covered under part P of the building regs, e.g. a pub sharing a meter with the flat above.

Perfect, thanks for the welcome and thanks for the feedback, even with the quals i just wanted to make sure, I do plan on attempting the 2394-5 but want to start using what I have got
