Hi guys,

I am testing a commercial unit ( new build) with a large commercial kitchen. My question is that apart from bonding the pipework in the kitchen, is there a need to cross bond the steel desks (about 20) that are all over the kitchen? The installation is not RCD protected.

Thanks!

A lot of people sill seem to be still of the mindset 'If i's metal then bond it just in case'. As tel says, they would only need bonding if they were extraneous conductive parts - which unless they're stuck in mud or something, I doubt very much. If you wanted to be sure, then do the insulation resistance test between the tables and the MET. Don't bond stuff just for the sake of it!

im going to do this tonight around the house and see what's bonded and shouldn't be.. isn't it 500v between earth bar and say kitchen sink.obviously il disconnect then try..

IR test from earth bar/MET to sink etc. if it's more than 22k ohms, don't bond it.
