Kitchen display light

Hi Guys,
I have been asked to install a small strip light under a wall mounted kitchen cupboard,when I went to check the job the cupboard in question houses a central heating boiler.There is an open base in the cupboard this will be for ventilation but there is a pelmet around the edge where a light could be mounted.My question is could a light be mounted in this situation - I am concerned about potential water leaks etc.
Would welcome any advice.Thanks

personally i wouldnt worry about the boiler being there

As long as servicing the boiler is not an issue; i.e. if the pelmit has to be removed to gain access.
