Never mind any profit! just making wages, they think I'm pulling their pants down!

Out of interest, anyone know Magnets fitting charges nowadays? I used to get £70 Ish per point 3 yrs ago!

If it were my house i would bite your hand off at £750. The job is worth a lot more than that, but as you say, you are in it for a wage, but i wouldn't go any lower. Tell them to get ringing around for a cheaper quote, they will soon be back.

Cheers........Howard

Hope the additional CU is at the intake position with the existing CU!!

Let this guy try and find someone to furbish this kitchen out electrically for anywhere near his 500 quid, he'll be searching for a long time i think. Mind, there is always the guy down the pub he knows of, that could knock it all out for 300 quid!! lol!!!

Hi Guys,

I know, it's a VERY reasonable price !
It's not the kitchen fitters fault, it's the kitchen firm who put a guesstimate in, this is always subject to survey.
Guess what, they are dangling carrots to us all too!

I'm in Mcr, near Sale. insult to injury, the job is a 40 Mile round trip, I can swallow that.

I'm quite prepard to let them pay peanuts and get monkeys. I reckon the real price of this work is closer to the 1 k mark.

Let them get the monkey to do it mate, then the organ grinder (you of course) might get a sensible rate to put it right

yes, new one adjacent to the existing, via henleys..

this kind of nonsense makes me lose the will to live.

The Kitchen fitters reckon they will be on 90 a day, I've told them to tell the firm to go suck eggs!
Oh, the kitchen is having 2k worth of stone worktop too, makes me even more miffed when they want to try and get work done almost for the love of it!

Always the way of things, The electrics will still be there long after the 2 grands worth of worktop has gone out of fashion and disposed of... But you trying telling that to these people. They never seem to be too interested in the safety of there family either, ....Kitchens have become a sort of status symbol these days, ....something to impress friends and family, rather than a place where you cook and prepare food, or do the weekly wash etc...lol!!!

Typical - main contractor underquotes for electrical work then wants to put the squeeze on you to do it for the same amount, even though you tell them twice as much work is needed.

Problem is now - doing for the 750 - is what happens with the unexpected extras that usually crop up - make sure its clear that you get paid extra for any additional work not in the original specification!
